FLYING SOLO:  A workshop for those who live alone, to make life safer, healthier, easier, and a lot more fun,

One-day seminar for women (and men) of all ages who live on their own, either full-time or part-time. Particularly good for corporate families, military families, and singles’ groups.

All of us need to know how to take care of ourselves in this frenetic world. This practical workshop on independent living and thinking teaches tips and skills developed by others who have "been there, done that," and gives participants an opportunity to

  • share wisdom about independent living
  • build networks of support
  • learn practical tips to minimize hassles

Based on the book Women Home Alone by Patricia Sprinkle, written after extensive interviews with persons who live alone and experts in such fields as medicine, security, money management, and household repair.

Time frame: 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (Including lunch)

  • Principles for confident decision-making.
  • Using loneliness creatively to become who I am.
  • Ways to prepare for predictable emergencies before they occur.

  • Basics we all need to know about money.

  • Parenting alone, or when one parent comes and goes.
  • The importance of networks of support, and how to build them.

SEMINAR FEES: Negotiable, depending on the size of the group. $400 minimumI

Host group provides lunch or beverage for sack lunch.
